Online and Graduate Q&As

When will NDC officially close?

All programs, including online undergraduate and graduate programs, will end after the spring 2024 semester. After graduation May 4, 2024, most NDC instructional activities, except for OPD, will cease. The College will wrap up records transfer and complete state and national requirements.

Will there be a Class of 2024 Commencement? Will my degree from NDC be considered valid?

Absolutely! Notre Dame College is looking forward to hosting the Spring 2024 Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 4, 2024. Furthermore, all degrees conferred by the College at any time will always be valid because Notre Dame College remains fully accredited and will remain so until it ceases educational operations. Furthermore, NDC is making arrangements to ensure that transcripts and other educational records will be available indefinitely to students and alumni. Once it is determined where the records will be housed, we will update students and alumni. For a transcript, please order online through a secure process with the National Student Clearinghouse.

Can students graduate with only a few courses left to complete?

To be eligible for graduation at the end of the Spring 2024 semester students must have completed all of their required credit hours and met all other graduation requirements as stated in the catalog. If you have not completed all of your credit hours we advise that participate in the Teach-Out and contact one of the Teach-Out institution representatives.

What if I planned on student teaching during the Fall 2024 semester?

If you intended to student teach during the Fall 2024 semester we advise that you apply to student teach with NDC by the second week of April. This will be a critical component to the transfer process. Even if you were not planning to student teach in the fall we still advise that you apply at NDC as soon as possible. The application can be found on MyNDC under the Division of Professional Education forms. Login to MyNDC and select the Academics tab. The link to the forms will be located on the left-side of the page in the gray panel.

Will teaching licenses be signed by Notre Dame College?

We are currently in the process of determining who will sign teaching licenses for education students. However, all licenses will be signed for all eligible students

What are my next steps as an online and/or graduate student, given that NDC will officially close at the end of the spring semester for all modalities, online and on-campus.

Assigned support (different than your current academic advisor) can review your transcript and educational goals with you, upon request. It is your responsibility as the student to reach out to one of the Teach-Out institutions that offer your program and determine your best next steps.

· If you stay at Notre Dame College for Spring 2024: NDC is committed to providing consistent support through this transitional semester.

· If you decide to attend a partner Teach-Out Institution: Assigned support will review, upon request, your transcript and educational goals with you. It is your responsibility as the student to reach out to the Teach-Out institution/s that offer your program to determine best next steps. By planning to attend a partner Teach-Out Institution, you will need to complete a streamlined application, but you can also be assured that you will be admitted to the partner, Teach-Out Institution, if you are in good standing at NDC. You will not be required to pay an application fee or submit supplemental materials such as essays or letters of recommendation. Our hope is that all of your credits will be accepted however the partner Teach-Out institution will make the final determination based upon institutional policy and program.

· If you decide to go to another college or university that is not a partner institution: It is your responsibility to complete your selected institution’s application and financial aid forms. Assistance with the location of these forms is available upon request.

· If you receive benefits under the GI Bill or through U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs chapters: NDC’s Office of Financial Aid will help ensure a seamless transition of these benefits.

What will happen with my academic records? How do I obtain copies now and going forward?

Notre Dame College is in the process of making arrangements with other institutions to house the College’s academic records once NDC ceases educational operations. Furthermore, as always, NDC students and alumni can obtain copies of their transcripts through the National Student Clearinghouse. Again, official transcripts may also be ordered online through a secure process with the National Student Clearinghouse.

Once it is determined where the records will be housed, we will update students and alumni.

What is the difference between a Teach-Out Institution and transferring?

Teach-Out: Teach-Out Agreements focus on you the student. Teach-Out Agreements entered into by Notre Dame College for its current students typically include protections that exceed what non-partnering institutions typically provide. These benefits include the following:

· Automatic admission of current NDC students in good standing (see more information below)

· Acceptance of all or most of your successfully completed credits at NDC

· Equivalent degree completion – Students will have to complete, at minimum, the same number of semesters at the Teach-Out institution as they would have at NDC to finish their degrees. However, the partner Teach-Out institution will make the final determination.

· Comparable net tuition – Students will receive comparable financial aid packages so that the net tuition amount the student is expected to contribute to complete their degree will be

similar (or less) as they would have had to pay at NDC. While the scholarships may be packaged differently and with different names, the amounts will be comparable. NDC students will not need to negotiate that process or be concerned about the Teach-Out Institutions’ published “sticker” price.

Transfer: Many institutions accept applications for transfer students, but the process may not be as seamless or have the same guarantees as with transitioning to a partnering Teach-Out Institution. Therefore, it is often in the best interest of students to transition to a designated Teach-Out Institution.

So far Notre Dame College has negotiated Teach-Out agreements with the institutions listed below. These institutions offer undergraduate and graduate programs online:

1. Ashland University (AU)

2. Baldwin Wallace

3. Cleveland State

4. Gannon University (GU)

5. Hiram College

6. Indiana Wesleyan University

7. John Carroll University

8. Kent State University

12. Ohio Dominican University

13. Point Park University (PPU)

14. Shepherd University

15. Thiel College

16. Ursuline College

17. Walsh University

18. Wittenberg University

NDC continues to negotiate additional Teach-Out Agreements and will post them as they are finalized.

Will all of my academic credits recognized at NDC automatically transfer to the Teach-Out Institution?

Our hope is that all of your academic credits will be accepted by one or all of the partner Teach-Out institutions that offer your program. However, the institution will make the final determination based upon institutional policy and program.

What are the requirements of eligibility for the Teach-Out Institutions?

To participate in the Teach-Out students must be in good standing academically, financially, and in student conduct.

Undergraduate students must have completed 60 or more academic credits at NDC to be eligible for the Teach-Out.

Graduate student academic credit completion and acceptance will be determined by the partner Teach-Out institution that offers their program.

What is considered good standing for undergraduate and graduate students?

Good standing applies to academic and financial standing as well as student conduct. Undergraduate students must have at least a 2.0 GPA and graduate students must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Financially student account balances must be paid in full with a zero balance and students must have maintained the conduct standards outlined by NDC during their time at the institution.

If I am not in good standing currently can I still be a part of the Teach-Out?

To participate in the Teach-Out students must be in good standing academically, financially, and in student conduct. If you are not in good standing financially you will be unable to obtain your official transcript which is required to transfer to another institution.

If you are not in good standing academically the partner Teach-Out institution may choose to admit you. However, the institution will make the final determination.

Who will handle conduct forms?

Some partner, Teach-Out institutions may request the completion of a conduct form by a conduct representative at Notre Dame College. This may require the completion of an electronic form that will be sent to NDC or a PDF. Please forward all conduct forms to Katie Mazanetz, Interim Dean of Students, (khartman@ndc.edu ) for approval

Do the Teach-Out Institutions I am considering have my major or a close match?

While most of NDC’s undergraduate and graduate online programs (or close matches) are available at one or more of the designated Teach-Out Institutions the title of the major may be a bit different from the NDC title. The Teach-Out Institution may have a major that closely aligns with your particular area of interest, but their program of study (POS) may have a course or two that is different from your NDC POS. Please take time to review all of the Teach-Out Institution’s academic offerings as they align with your desired major, as well as the Teach-Out Matrix which

is located on MyNDC. Login to MyNDC and select the link to the NDC Teach-Out Partners link located on the right-side of the page in the Important Information section.

How will my grade point average (GPA) be calculated by the Teach-Out Institutions? Will my GPA be a “start fresh” or will my NDC grades be calculated into a new GPA?

Your GPA calculation is subject to the Teach-Out Institution’s policies.

What about my General Education requirements?

If you have already completed your General Education requirements at NDC, then you will not have to re-take them at the designated Teach-Out Institution. In contrast, if you transfer to any other institution, that institution will determine which of your credits they will accept.

If you have not yet completed your General Education requirements, then staff at the Teach-Out Institution will review your transcript, determine which of your NDC courses can fulfill that institution’s requirements, and communicate what General Ed courses you would still need to complete.

If I already have transfer credits from other (non-NDC) institutions, will they be accepted by the Teach-Out Institution?

If your non-NDC credits were accepted by NDC, they will be accepted by the Teach-Out Institution. If they were not accepted by NDC, then we encourage you to discuss these credits with an advisor at the Teach-Out Institution

Will my financial scholarship at NDC be carried over to my Teach-Out Institution? Will my tuition costs be the same?

One of the advantages of a Teach-Out Institution is the guarantee that students will pay a comparable rate (or possibly less) than they currently pay out-of-pocket for tuition at NDC. The Teach-Out Institution will offer each NDC student a financial aid package that reflects comparable net tuition costs.

Will I graduate “on time” with a Teach-Out Institution?

Our hope is that all students will graduate on the same timeline previously followed at NDC. However, the partner, Teach-Out institution will make the final determination based upon program, academic credit completion and acceptance, and institutional policy.

If I am already a transfer student, how will my credits from other institutions be counted if I transfer again?

Each institution has its own transfer credit policies and will need to review your transcripts and decide what credits it will accept. NDC staff can, upon request, assist you in interpreting the policies, but it is important to read them carefully and ask questions throughout the transfer process.

I am not interested in attending any of the Teach-Out Institutions. How do I apply to transfer to a college of my choice?

If you are not interested in attending any of the Teach-Out Institutions, you would contact the admissions office and work with them to transfer to the college of your choice.

If I decide that I do not want to finish the Spring 2024 semester at NDC, can I get a refund and transfer right away?

If you choose to transfer (or withdraw) please do so immediately. The last day to withdraw from an Online Term 4 course/s is Sunday, April 14th. You may have financial repercussions so it is important to contact the Financial Aid office (finaid@ndc.edu ) for a more detailed explanation. If you want to transfer to another institution and complete the Spring 2024 semester elsewhere, be sure you understand the institution’s transfer policies and deadlines before finalizing your decision. Once you withdraw, you will not be allowed to re-enroll.

Will I have access to Microsoft 365 and OneDrive after the closure of the institution?

All account access for Microsoft 365 and OneDrive will be deactivated at the end of May. We advise that you save all important documents in a different location as soon as possible. We also advise that you re-route all important communication and outreach to a personal or separate email account.
