Notre Dame College has appointed two new members to its Board of Trustees, both with experience growing schools and values-based organizations in Northeast Ohio.

The two new trustees who begin their six-year terms in 2022 are Heather B. Schlegel, vice president at Huntington Private Bank, and the Rev. Cory Jenkins, an associate partner with Security Equity Group, a firm that specializes in the acquisition and support of small- to medium-sized businesses in the health, technology and building sectors.

Schlegel, in addition to her Huntington specialties in lending leveraged strategies and maximizing deposit experiences, has served as the secretary of the Legacy Village Grant Committee, which provides funding for organizations, schools and services in the South Euclid and Lyndhurst communities.

Jenkins relocated from his hometown of Brooklyn, N.Y., to Cleveland in 2009 and served the congregation of the historic Shiloh Baptist Church as senior pastor. He has founded several ministries, including Manhood That Matters, a platform designed to empower men, and Team Jenkins Ministries, which has espoused higher education to better prepare those with a call to faith-based service.

More About Heather Schlegel

With over 20 years of banking experience, all with Huntington Bank, Schlegel is a private banker who provides personalized and relationship-driven service to assist clients in realizing their financial goals

She graduated from Cornell University’s College of Architecture, Art and Planning with a degree in city and regional planning and has received the distinction of Paraplanner from the College of Financial Planning.

In addition, Schlegel volunteers with Huntington Bank’s Reality Days, which provide youths with financial education, and has served as a mentor for 8th graders at Breakthrough Schools.

More About the Rev. Cory Jenkins

Jenkins earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from Morehouse College with Phi Beta Kappa distinction. He followed with a Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary with a concentration in practical theology.

He is a member of the Board of Directors for Northern Ohio Blood Services of the American Red Cross and the Board of Trustees for Cuyahoga Community College.

Jenkins has been inducted into the College of Pastoral Leadership at Morehouse College. He was recognized by Kaleidoscope Magazine as one of the Top 40 Under 40 in Greater Cleveland and was featured in Black Enterprise Magazine as one of Cleveland Magazine’s Most Interesting People.

Additionally, he has served as a contributing writer for the National Baptist Voice, the official publication of the National Baptist Convention USA.
