Emmy Award-winning television news anchor and author Romona Robinson has found a means to conquer fear and failure and achieve ultimate success—through spirituality—and will impart her expertise to others at Notre Dame College.

Robinson, whose latest book is titled “Your Voice is Your Power: Stop Believing Thoughts of Fear and Start Becoming Who God Says You Are,” will give two presentations on Wednesday, February 26, at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center in the College Administration Building. She also will host a book-signing at 11:15 a.m. in the Administration Building foyer. She also is the author of “A Dirt Road to Somewhere: An Emmy Award-Winning Anchor ‘s Incredible Journey of Faith Over Fear.”

All events are free and open to the public, but space is limited. To register, email Sr. Carol Ziegler, chief mission officer and executive director of the Abrahamic Center at Notre Dame.

In her new book, Robinson reveals painful private lessons she has learned about living in fear and listening to negative influences that almost made her miss out on her personal mission.

“Now that God is in charge, I am finally living the abundant life He promised—and so can you,” she has said.

From Fear to Faith

In her book and in her presentations, Robinson addresses how doubts about career, finances, families, relationships or health, have us searching for answers and questioning why a Higher Power hasn’t come to the rescue. She offers insights into how to move beyond negative thinking, past hurts and destructive influences so each individual can reach their own potential as gifted from God.

In addition to her publications and personal media appearances, Robinson has her own inspirational reality television show on Facebook. She founded Romona’s Kids in 1990, a program to highlight and encourage children to realize their full potential.

From Challenge to Triumph

Robinson became the first African American woman to anchor a nightly newscast in Cleveland and was the first solo anchor of a weeknight newscast in the city. She was inducted into the Press Club of Cleveland’s Journalism Hall of Fame in 2016. She is also an inductee in Ohio’s Broadcast Hall of Fame and winner of the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award along with her former station, WOIO-TV 19.

Her work in the community with children, women and diversity issues also has earned her awards ranging from the YWCA’s Women of Achievement to The Diversity in Media Award. For 20 years, she has served as Honorary Chair of the Komen Race for the Cure.

Robinson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast journalism from Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo.

From ME 2 WE

The address from Robinson continues Notre Dame’s “From ME 2 WE” speaker sequence. The theme of the series that started in the fall semester illustrates Notre Dame’s distinctive campus culture in which departments across the College work together to develop individual students, faculty and staff into a cohesive “Falcon Family.”

Notre Dame welcomes the extended Northeast Ohio community to join in that formation by opening these addresses to the public.
