Gerald F. Hayes, PsyD, Director


Dr. Gerald (Jerry) Hayes is director of the counseling center. He received his BAA from the University of Florida, a master’s degree in mental health counseling from Gannon University and his Doctor of Psychology from Wright State University’s School of Professional Psychology. Over the past 20 years, he has worked as a clinical psychologist in a variety of clinical settings including community mental health, hospitals and private practice. Dr. Hayes has worked in college mental health for the past 14 years and is thrilled to be at here at NDC and to be a part of this vibrant, dynamic and caring community. His areas of clinical interest include adjustment and relationship concerns, multicultural issues, self-esteem and identity exploration as well as work with underserved populations including the deaf and hard of hearing community. He enjoys working with first generation college students, athletes and students managing ASD. His goal as director is to assist all individuals in developing a healthy lifestyle and effectively managing conflict and stress. He believes that lasting change comes from self-awareness and self-compassion which is enhanced through a collaborative therapeutic work relationship that promotes empowerment and respects self-determination.

 

Desiree Morrison, Assistant Director of Counseling, Prevention and Outreach

Desiree Morrison M.Ed., LPCC-S, CYC-P, is a supervising professional clinical counselor licensed in the State of Ohio. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Cleveland State University. She has 20 years of experience counseling children, adolescents and adults in a variety of settings. Desiree provides direct clinical services, mental health outreach, and educational programming to the campus community. She is passionate about assisting college students through their journey.

 

 

Anita Eddie, Mental Health Counselor

Anita M. Eddie, MA ATR MSSA LISW-S LCSW is a supervising independent social worker in the state of OH and a licensed clinical social worker in the state of NC. In addition, Ms. Eddie is a registered art therapist and a child psychoanalyst. She practices social services regionally in Cuyahoga, Lorain, and Erie Counties. Ms. Eddie provides behavioral health services both inpatient and outpatient. Her current hospital affiliations include Bon Secours Mercy Health Lorain and Cleveland Clinic Euclid Hospital where she provides psychiatric services for patients in acute distress. Ms. Eddie has worked across the lifespan from infancy to senior adults. This depth of clinical experience for the past 30 years has afforded Ms. Eddie the opportunity to be a field educator for three well respected universities. They are Columbia College New York School of Social Work, Youngstown State University Bitonte College of Health and Human Services as well as CWRU Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences.

 

 

Kimberly Marshall, MSN, APN-BC, PMHNP-BC

Kimberly Marshall is a dual certified nurse practitioner holding an Adult nurse practitioner degree along with a Psychiatric nurse practitioner degree from The University of New York, Stonybrook. She is currently obtaining her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Northern Kentucky University. Over the past 25 years, she was worked in several inpatient and outpatient settings including cardiology and then subsequently in the mental health field. Kim owns Marshall Health and Wellness which sees patients of all ages with multiple medical issues including depression, anxiety, bipolar and children with conduct disorders. Kim’s other focus is with Suicide Prevention. She also truly enjoys helping patients find the right treatment plan and believes that when the patient takes the first step of coming to see a mental health provider it is the first step in being proactive to improve their emotional and mental health needs. Often medication and psychotherapy are the key to reducing symptoms and developing coping skills along with developing a sense of meaning and purpose in life.

 

 

Nadya Jacoby, Grant Manager/Office Administrator

Nadya Jacoby is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the State of Ohio and earned her BBA degree from Cleveland State University in Accounting. She began her tenure at Notre Dame as the office manager at the Counseling Center in 2016 and was instrumental in securing several sizable grants, focusing on suicide prevention and wellness, for this office which she now manages. She is certified in the QPR Institute Training Model as a QPR Gatekeeper Instructor and is training to become a Mental Health First Aid instructor.

Elsa Mattson, Doctoral Trainee

Elsa Mattson is a Doctoral Trainee from Case Western Reserve University performing psycho-educational testing and individual counseling. She received her BS from University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. 

 

 

Kathleen Pait, Doctoral Trainee

Kathleen Pait is a Doctoral Trainee from Case Western Reserve University performing individual counseling and psycho-educational testing. She received her MA from Columbia University Teachers College and her BA from University of Arkansas.
