The Sisters of Notre Dame are sending a special prayer during the pandemic to members of the Notre Dame College community and others throughout the U.S.

The national congregation of Sisters, with representatives across the country from Thousand Oaks, Calif., to Covington, Ky., and Toledo through Chardon, both in Ohio, are sharing their petition via virtual social distancing platforms.

The digital message from the more than 200 women religious features an image with inspirational epistles. The simple encouragements are presented in random order: “Stay safe. Stay home. Be kind. Help others. Pray. Social distance. Love one another. Don’t panic. Don’t be afraid. We are in this together.”

Sr. Carol Ziegler, SND, Ph.D., executive assistant to the president and executive director of the Abrahamic Center at the College, shared the digital tidings from the Sisters with students, faculty and staff at the College and friends in the wider Notre Dame family.

The Sisters of Notre Dame prayer reminds all of the divine love and goodness of our provident God, especially during a time when many are struggling, often alone, in a weakened economy; dealing with the deaths of loved ones; and are uncertain of the future amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic:

“O God, you comfort us in times of trouble,/You strengthen us in moments of weakness,/You encourage us in times of loss./If only we turn to YOU… Amen.”

The Sisters of Notre Dame end their dispatch with wishes for well-being and a reminder that their devotions never cease.

“We hope you and your family are staying safe and healthy,” they wrote. “We’re still continuing to pray for you!”
