Notre Dame College Career Services has been engaged in the implementation of the Handshake application, which will be funded by a Title III grant the College received in 2019. Handshake is the leading application used to connect students with valuable internships and entry level positions.
Coupled with Career Services counseling, career fairs and in-person interviews with employers, Handshake will make our students more accessible to viable employment opportunities and it will offer the students another effective method to search for and connect with potential employers currently unavailable to them. Today, Handshake boasts participation of over 1,000 universities, 500,000 employers (including all the fortune 500 companies), and over 7 million users.
While undoubtedly an invaluable tool for our students and alumni, Notre Dame chose Handshake not only because of its popularity but also its robust set of features and highlights. With a streamlined system to engage students and employers, the Career Services team can more effectively manage appointment and interview scheduling and event management and make valuable resources available to students.
In addition, Handshake offers real time metrics and data on job postings and student engagement as well as first destination surveys to track student outcomes.
