Notre Dame College has placed 109 student-athletes on the lists of the Mountain East Conference (MEC) 2019 fall academic honorees.

A total of 58 student-athletes from the College made the All-MEC Academic Team with grade-point averages (GPAs) between 3.70 and 4.00, and an additional 51 students were on the Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll with GPAs between 3.25 and 3.69. Notre Dame was one of just two schools to have more than 100 student-athletes on the conference lists.

The overall student-athlete GPA for Notre Dame was 3.018, with 57 percent of the student-athletes earning GPAs above 3.0.

“I love when these lists come out every year because we are able to show off all the hard work our student-athletes put in while in the classroom,” said Notre Dame Director of Athletics Scott Swain. “It’s not an easy task to balance school work and athletics, so to see all the names we have as honorees is something to really be proud of.”

Of the 58 Falcons making the Academic All-Conference team, 21 were football players, 12 played volleyball, 11 played men’s soccer, 9 were women’s soccer players, 3 competed in women’s golf and 2 competed in men’s golf.

Notre Dame student-athletes on the Commissioners’ Academic Honor Roll by sport were: 20 in football, 10 for men’s soccer, 9 for women’s soccer, 7 in volleyball, 3 for men’s golf and 2 for women’s golf.

The names of all the College students who placed and their sports are listed on the College’s athletics website.

The fall sports on the lists included football, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball. Notre Dame no longer has cross country teams.

A record 960 student-athletes were honored by the MEC this year, including 418 who earned All-MEC Academic Team honors (3.70 or higher) in the eight fall sports.
