Notre Dame College, home to Mercury Theatre Company, presents Mercury’s 2019 summer season of musical theatre with Mamma Mia!, Chaplin and The Wizard of Oz.

The series of three productions, plus a Mercury Jr. Company performance of Mary Poppins, begins Friday, June 7, and continues through Sunday, August 18, all in Regina Auditorium on the College campus. Shows and dates are as follows:

  • Mamma Mia!: Friday, June 7, through Sunday, June 9; Friday, June 14, through Sunday, June 16; and Thursday, June 20, through Sunday, June 23.
  • My Mercury! Mary Poppins Jr.: Saturday, June 29, and Sunday, June 30.
  • Chaplin: Friday, July 5, through Sunday, July 7; Friday, July 12, through Sunday, July 14; and Thursday, July 18, through Sunday, July 21.
  • The Wizard of Oz: Friday, August 2, through Sunday, August 4; Friday, August 9, through Sunday, August 11; and Thursday, August 15, through Sunday, August 18.

Show times are 7 p.m. Thursdays, 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays, all in Regina Auditorium on the College campus. Tickets are available online.

This is Mercury Theatre’s 21st season and its first since announcing that Notre Dame has become its permanent home. The company started performing at Regina Auditorium as the College’s in-residence theatre artists in 2012.

In addition to its stage productions this summer, Mercury Theatre conducts its My Mercury! Theatre Intensive arts experience that is more than a traditional summer camp. Designed for students ages 10-19, the program is a comprehensive, one-week experience in the month of July, in which students get a chance to hone their skills in a fast-paced, creative environment. Campers must audition for placement.

The Company also offers pre-show parties on My First Musical and Teen Nights this summer at the College:

  • Mamma Mia: Thursday, June 20, at 7 p.m.
  • Mary Poppins Jr.: Sunday, June 30, at 2 p.m.
  • Chaplin: Thursday, July 18, at 7 p.m.
  • The Wizard of Oz: Thursday, August 15, at 7 p.m.

My First Musical is Mercury’s educational outreach program, Launched in June 2009, My First Musical offers children 12 and under and their parents, who may be faced with economic hardship, free admission to each production in Mercury’s current season. All applications must be received in writing and will be reviewed and awarded on a first-come basis, and in consideration of qualifying income levels.

Teen Nights are hosted by Mercury’s Teen Board and include a discounted show ticket.
