Centennial Opening Celebration Recap
Notre Dame College’s 100th Birthday Party was a success! The event took place on September 18th to commemorate when the NDC first opened its doors to 13 women and 11 novices 100 years ago. The NDC community enjoyed fantastic food and live music from decade-spanning band, Billy Likes Soda, while celebrating this memorable day.
Celebration Details
During the event, a ceremonial time capsule from the college’s 75th anniversary was revealed and captured the interest of attendees. Children joined in on the fun, too, participating in face painting, origami, and a scavenger hunt.
Guests also enjoyed cheering on NDC student-athletes as our Men’s Soccer team defeated Frostburg State, 4-2, and the Women’s Volleyball team defeated D’Youville University, 3-0! Finally, several prominent NDC faculty gave 20-minute mini-lectures, ranging from “The History of Notre Dame College and the Sisters of Notre Dame” to “What it Makes to be a Good Person.”
Beyond 100
The Centennial Celebration also marked the beginning of Beyond 100, a $14 million capital campaign, which will give millions into scholarships and fund upgrades and renovations to parts of the NDC campus. Ray Murphy heads this campaign, sharing that “We’re being offered a rare opportunity to put our money where our mouths are. This campaign is about the future.”
