With input from our Cleveland Clinic Partners and the Cuyahoga County Board of Health, the Notre Dame College COVID-19 Response Team will consider the following indicators when setting NDC Alert Level:

  • Cuyahoga County Alert Level
  • Current Number of Active Cases
  • Trend of Increasing Positive or Presumed Positive Cases Over a 5 Day Period
  • Community Spread (localized or more widespread)
  • Campus Capacity (a measure of faculty or staff affected that may affect campus services)
  • Ohio Department of Health Orders

 

Notre Dame College Alert System

Alert Level

0

DescriptionNo public or campus emergency
Criteria
  • There are no campus indicators triggered.
  • There are no active country and state health mandates.
Protection OverviewUtilize good hygiene practices to maintain a healthy campus.

 

Alert Level

1

DescriptionIncreased Risk of Exposure and Spread; Exercise caution
Criteria
  • The Cuyahoga County Alert Level is 1 or higher, and
  • Current number of active cases is less than 3% of the total on-campus population, and
  • Cases are generally localized, and
  • Campus capacity is good to offer academic and student services.
Protection Overview

Follow all current local, state, and federal health mandates.

Facial coverings required.

Maintain physical distancing.

Utilize disinfection protocols, including using disinfecting wipes and disinfecting fogging of classrooms overnight.

Extracurricular ActivitiesFollow all campus rules regarding masks and social distancing; in person meetings and events can occur on-campus in accordance with Ohio Department of Health (ODH) orders and Responsible RestartOhio guidance.
AthleticsAthletic practice and competition will follow current MEC and NCAA recommendations, as well as ODH orders and guidance.

2

DescriptionHeightened Exposure and Spread; Limit activities
Criteria
  • The Cuyahoga County Alert Level is 1 or higher, and
  • Current number of active cases is less than 5% of the total on-campus population, or
  • Case show widespread dispersion in the campus community, or
  • Campus capacity has been affected in its ability to offer quality academic and student services.
Protection Overview

Follow all current local, state, and federal health mandates.

Facial coverings required.

Maintain physical distancing.

Enhanced disinfection protocols.

In person group gatherings are discouraged. Outdoor gatherings will be permitted in accordance with ODH orders and guidance.

Classes

Classes are held fully remote.

Exceptions may be science labs, nursing labs, clinical experiences, and other coursework that requires hands-on equipment or campus materials.

Residence HallsStudents will not be permitted to have anyone visit their room that is not a part of their family unit (exceptions include Residence Life, Maintenance, Police, or similar staff). Common areas will be off limits.
DiningSign up for a time to come to the dining hall and encourage all individuals to utilize the to-go option. If eating in the dining hall, it must be done only with the “family unit” and at a scheduled time. The Falcon Café will eliminate all seating and will become strictly grab-and-go.
Extracurricular ActivitiesMeetings and events will be encouraged to be held virtually; On-campus, in person meetings and events will be permitted outdoors with physical distancing and masks, and in accordance with ODH orders and guidance.
AthleticsNo athletic competitions. Athletic practice may be held in small groups and under coach’s supervision in accordance with MEC and NCAA regulations, and with ODH orders and guidance.

DescriptionSevere level of exposure and spread
Criteria
  • The Cuyahoga County Alert Level is 1 or higher, and
  • Current number of active cases is greater than 5% of the total on-campus population, and
  • Case show widespread dispersion in the campus community.
Protection Overview

Follow all current local, state, and federal health mandates.

Facial coverings required.

Maintain physical distancing.

All in person group gatherings are strongly discouraged.

When possible, students are to vacate the campus.

Classes

Classes are held fully remote.

Exceptions may be science labs, nursing labs, clinical experiences, and other coursework that requires hands-on equipment or campus materials with approval from Cuyahoga County Board of Health.

Residence HallsStudents will be encouraged to vacate campus for the remainder of the semester (possibly longer); exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis. Common areas will be off limits.
DiningAll students will be required to use the to-go option or pick up a pre-packed meal (will depend on the number of students remaining on campus). The Falcon Café will be closed.
Extracurricular ActivitiesAll in person meetings and events will be suspended.
AthleticsNo athletic competition and practice is suspended.
Employees

Reduced office staffing to minimum levels to maintain business functions.

All non-essential employees work from home.

Utilize video conferencing for all meetings.
