A group of senior administrators, faculty, and staff have been hard at work to develop a plan to safely re-open our campus this fall. Several key assumptions are guiding them:
- Notre Dame wants to keep everyone safe and healthy.
- Notre Dame wants to limit exposure to and the spread of COVID-19.
- Notre Dame wants to continue to deliver a highly personal, face-to-face education on our beautiful campus.
Falcon Flex will include best practices for the new normal of higher education. Using this flexible model, students will have robust classroom experiences combined with technology-based remote attendance. This will allow social distancing to be maintained in classrooms and laboratories. New cleaning and disinfecting protocols will be in place to ensure that our learning spaces are free from infectious agents.
Students will have full access to academic, social and emotional support services. We are making plans for student-athletes to compete on our courts and fields of play. Student activities will resume. Fine and performing arts will enrich our campus. Faculty will be available to aid you on your academic journey.
Should there be a resurgence of the virus and the governor issues new restrictions, Notre Dame will be ready to turn on a dime to complete the semester through virtual synchronous classroom experiences.
This is a time to show the very best qualities of the Notre Dame community. Let’s care for one another and do all we can to be safe and well. Students, don’t let a virus interrupt your education.
We are looking forward to reconnecting with our returning students and welcoming our new students to campus! Let’s go Falcons!
