How do I contact my daughter/son on campus?
 Through the student service fee, residence hall rooms have local phone service with voicemail. Students may want to purchase a calling card or a cellular phone for long distance service.
Your child will also be provided with an email address (note that all campus email addresses end with “@ndc.edu”).
In an emergency, you may contact the Director of Residence Life at 216-373-5274 or Notre Dame College Campus Police at: 216-373-5212 to forward a message to your child.

Where are you located?
Notre Dame College sits on 53 picturesque wooded acres, tucked away in a quiet suburban neighborhood ten miles east of Cleveland, Ohio, called South Euclid.

What is the typical weather in Cleveland?
We have four beautiful seasons here! Cleveland's climate is largely influenced by Lake Erie. It's cooler in summer and more moderate in winter than its latitude might suggest.
Though some summer days can be hot (90+ F/32+ C) with high humidity, the usual summer temperatures are 57-81 F/14-27 C. When breezes blow from the lake, temperatures stay comfortable.
Spring has the most rainy days, and thunderstorms occur most frequently in June and July. The temperature range is 47-68 F/8-19 C in May, and 43-74 F/6-22 C in autumn.
Though temperatures are often well below freezing in the cold-weather months, they're not extreme. (18-32 F/-5 to 0 C are January ranges.)

If my son/daughter becomes ill, what health services are available?
Resident students needing health services may go to University Suburban Health Care (1611 S. Green Road, South Euclid, OH 44121; Phone: 216-382-6286), conveniently located two blocks from campus. Emergency Room services are provided for all students by an area hospital.

What are the resources available to help my child succeed academically?
Every student has an academic advisor to help plan course schedule. Tutors are available through the Dwyer Learning Center. Also, the Advising Center is designed to help students plan out their academic program and schedule—students who do not have a faculty advisor, students who are undecided or have not declared a major, and students who need to change their schedules.
What is FYI (First Year Institute)?
Appropriately called First Year Institute, orientation to Notre Dame College continues during the first semester with a unique, small-group experience.
The first year of college is a critical period for student learning. It is a period of transition and adjustment, both academically and socially, during which students acquire important skills that furnish the foundation for subsequent learning.
Small groups of students meet regularly with faculty and staff mentors and work toward the common goals of achieving academic success and developing a sense of community.

What is the “Freshman fifteen?”
Change in diet; ordering fast junk food; new stresses; lack of exercise -- The "Freshman fifteen" is fifteen pounds of fat which accumulates over the course of a freshman's first year away from home.
Please talk to your child about the importance of exercise, avoiding fast food, controlling portion sizes, eating balanced meals (don’t skip breakfast!), and trying not to eat while they study.
The Joseph H. Keller Center's recently renovated fitness facilities are available for student use.

What sports, clubs, and activities are available on campus?
The quickest way to find out what is going on currently on campus is to check the Calendar of Campus Events.

Is a computer required at Notre Dame College?
No, but highly recommended.
Can I bring my PC from home?
Yes, but please bring a machine with Ethernet connection capable of running Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows XP, or Microsoft Windows Vista. Also any Mac running Mac OS X will run on our network as well.
Does Notre Dame College offer any discounts on laptops or notebooks?
No, Notre Dame College does not offer discounts on laptops or notebooks.
What specific operating system and software is required or recommended?
Most machines come with Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows 2000, or Microsoft Windows Vista. Any Mac computer running Mac OS X will also work. We offer Office 2007 through the College at a reduced cost. We insist on anti-virus software (Norton recommended).
Are there broadband connections on campus: and if so, where?
In each residence hall room, every classroom, computer labs and Joe Beans Café.

Is there wireless access on campus?
Wireless access is only offered on campus at the Falcon Café which is located in the Clara Fritzsche Library.
Do I need a printer in my residence hall room?
No, you can print your items in an Notre Dame College computer lab, but a printer in your residence hall room does make things more convenient.
Does the college offer Internet filtering?
The college has a firewall that prevents connection to objectionable web sites on all public machines.
Is there computer training available?
Yes, in fact Notre Dame College students are required to complete IS 220 or “test out” to graduate from Notre Dame College.
Can I take classes online?
There are web components to about 20% of our classes through WebCT.
What are the rules on campus?
The Notre Dame College Student Handbook lists all the rules and regulations that a student needs to know.
How does my child do their laundry?
Washers and dryers are located in Petersen Hall on floors 1,
2, and 3, as well as on the second floor and lower level of both Providence Hall and Harks Hall. There is no charge to use the machines; however, students will need to provide their own detergent.
What educational travel opportunities does Notre Dame College provide?
"Educational Travel Experience - Pursuing education and adventure
in different parts of the world!"
Each year during spring break, Notre Dame students, faculty, Alumni, staff, and friends travel together to various overseas destinations. Students earn academic credit for the trips.
