Tolerance Resource Center Celebrates Tenth Anniversary
Winter/Spring 2008
Notre Dame College’s Tolerance Resource Center begins a yearlong celebration of its tenth anniversary in October with a variety of programs open to the community. The commemoration continues throughout the academic year.

Event: “Never Again Genocide in the 21st Century”
Keynote Speaker Dr. James Waller, Ph.D.
Dates and Times: April 10th- Thur. 7:30 p.m.
Dr. James Waller, Ph.D. is professor of psychology at Whitworth University. He writes and lectures extensively on topics of genocide, Holocaust and racism. His first book Face to Face: the Changing State of Racism Across America was immediately followed by a second book, Prejudice Across America. He has received numerous awards for both his writing and teaching. His lecture will touch on past issues of genocide and the state of racism in America today.

“Victims, Perpetrators,
Rescuers and Survivors:
A Multigenre Response to the Holocaust”

An exhibit featuring the work of Orange High School seniors sponsored by the College’s Tolerance Resource Center. Under the guidance of social studies teacher Gail Price and Gifted Intervention Specialist Petra Moran, students were asked to complete a multigenre paper after completing a unit on the rise of the Nazis and the Holocaust in Mrs. Price’s justice class. Multigenre research projects give students the opportunity to research and reflect on a topic then share their newfound knowledge through words and pictures. |

October 20th to October 22nd “And Then They Came For Me...
The Eva Schloss Story”
The play is about Eva Schloss a Jewish girl in Amsterdam at the time of the Holocaust during World War II who was acquainted with Anne Frank (and whose widowed mother married the widowed Otto Frank, Anne's father, after the war) and who was deported to Auschwitz concentration camp. Eva herself will attend the performances and lead a discussion afterward.
