Poem

They Could Have Saved Them
Supermen-
  Ignored bloated, frozen
Children cadavers, packed them
Like bleating lambs into rail cars,
Bribed them to oven doors,
Resisted outstretched hands,
Rebuffed pleading eyes, Shot them
On sight, in mother arms.
Supermen?
  Poem Men-of-the-Cloth-
    Condemn Herod's massacre of babes,
Yet shun the hecatomb of our time,
A Rabbi pleading for little ones,
Heard, "There's no innocent Jewish blood,"
From a heirarch of Rome.
No benevolence for the neighbor-
Child of another creed?
  Men-of-the-Cloth?

Heads-of-State-
  Cobras in ostrich pose,
Blocked the boat load of children
Within shore-reach of salvation.
Sent neutral country, Red Cross
Inspectors to the "Model Camp."
A model camp with children-prisoners?
Whose crimes were, uh, they were, uh…
What were they?

Heads-of-State?
