We will be introducing all 3 options for Immersion Experiences happening during Spring Break and May 2015. We will also present information about what is expected of participants, the application process, and fundraising opportunities.
All participants will fill out an online application. Before filling out the application, it is important to read about the different immersion experiences that are being offered and to think through why you want to travel to a certain location.
The application asks for contact information, previous immersion experience, health and financial needs. All participants are required to write a short essay (under 500 words) about the prompt below. Please write this in a word document and copy and paste your answer into the online application. This will avoid the problem of losing your work if there is a computer or internet issue.
The Notre Dame Immersion Program is based on the following 4 values: Servant Leadership, Learning, Community and Spirituality. Please choose two of these values and describe three personal or professional goals that you would like to achieve through the Immersion Experience. In addition to describing what you hope to gain through the experience, also describe what you hope to give to others.
The application is due by October 31st, 2014.

Guatemala Nursing Immersion (February 26 - March 7, 2015)
Habitat Birmingham Immesion (March 1-7, 2015)
Guatemala General Immersion (May 20-29, 2015)
It is possible that there will be more applicants than we can accommodate on the immersions. In general, preference will be given to those who have not had previous immersion opportunities or those who can serve in leadership positions. Students will be selected based on the quality of the online application and demonstrated desire to engage in the service and learning that the immersion experience offers. It is also highly preferred for students to participate in an immersion before graduation.
After applicants have been selected to participate in an immersion, they are asked to fill out a commitment form. This commitment form lists the expectations of all participants which include payment information, conduct guidelines including an agreement about refraining from alcohol consumption during an immersion, and information about the preparation process.
This form and a non-refundable $100 deposit is due to the Campus Ministry office by the date indicated above. It is necessary to have your materials in on or before this date so that we can make flight arrangements and begin the planning process.
After participants have handed in their commitment forms and deposits, an initial meeting will be held to discuss fundraising options. Even if participants do not need to fundraise to pay for the immersion, this will be the first opportunity to meet the group and attendance is expected.
