Van Driver Training

Coaching The Van Driver

Where did it all come from?

The first Defensive Driving Course was developed in 1964. According to records the course was designed around two definitions:

  • Defensive Driving
  • Preventable Collision

These definitions were adapted for use in defensive driving course from the National Safety Council’s Safe Driver Award program for professional drivers.

Coaching The Van Driver is designed for drivers who operate their van in various traffic situations. The defensive driving skills and techniques presented will assist you in preventing collisions and increase your observation skills.

This training will cover topics in van characteristics and inspection, scanning, cushion of safety and communicating, reading traffic situations and collision reporting procedures. The training is a 4-hour course with a mandatory check-out inspection ride.

Training and driving test will be provided by Certified Instructors Officer Jackson and Officer Owens.
