FirstGen Center

What does it mean to be FirstGen?

First-generation college students are students who will be among the first in their family to graduate with a 4 year degree. They are trailblazers and change-makers.

The FirstGen Center

The FirstGen Center is a supportive community of first-generation students, faculty, alumni, and local professionals. Our mission is to empower first generation students to successfully navigate their college experience and persist to graduation through resiliency coaching, supportive services and leadership opportunities.

The FirstGen Center:

  • Connects first generation  students to resources and supports on campus that will increase their academic success and connection
  • Fosters meaningful peer and faculty/staff relationships
  • Provides leadership and mentorship opportunities to enhance students‘ personal growth and professional development
  • Assists students during the transition from high school to college and college to career
