CIRCULATION POLICIES

  • Circulating books & audio-visual materials may be checked out for a SEMESTER LOAN.

  • OhioLINK items have a 3-WEEK loan period plus up to four renewals.

  • Your Notre Dame ID is your library card. Please carry it with you! Your 10-digit library barcode is on the bottom of the card.
    You can use it to check out books from our library as well as all 86 OhioLINK libraries, request OhioLINK books and have them
    sent to any nearby OhioLINK campus, and access over 160 OhioLINK databases and print full-text articles from any campus
    computer, local library computer or your home computer.

  • OVERDUE FINES - .50 per day for OhioLINK materials; $115.00 for lost OhioLINK items.

DATABASES – EBSCOhost databases including Academic Search Complete (all subjects, contain full text articles), Art Full Text, Education Full Text, Electronic Journal Center (mainly science/technology, contain full text articles); ATLA Religion Database, America: History and Life, Historical Abstracts, MLA International Bibliography, MEDLINE, PsycINFO, RILM Abstracts of Music Literature, ERIC (comprehensive, indexing and abstracts only); WorldCAT (search for books worldwide). RESERVES – Books, periodicals or media belonging to the library or instructors may be placed on reserve behind the circulation desk for “IN LIBRARY USE ONLY,” OVERNIGHT, 3-DAY or 7-DAY loan periods. Please specify course number and desired loan period with your request.

INTERLIBRARY LOAN – As a supplement to library and faculty collections, books or periodicals may be ordered through interlibrary loan from any local, OhioLINK, or OCLC library. FACILITIES RESERVATION – The Seminar Room, Tolerance Resource Center, Eastern Church Resource Center and Computer Room are available for classes, meetings or quiet study. (x5267)

  • SEMINAR ROOM (SEMR) – Located on the first floor, the Seminar Room contains a blackboard, VCR, DVD player and pulldown screen. It also houses the Le Cercle des Conferences Francaises collection of French language books.

  • TOLERANCE RESOURCE CENTER – Located on the 2nd floor, the Tolerance Resource Center houses a DVD/VCR player and a computer for online searching, as well as a comprehensive collection of books, videos, posters, curriculum guides and bibliographies pertaining to Holocaust studies and diversity issues. Contact the library director at x5266 for more information, or visit its website at www.NotreDameCollege.edu/tolerance/

  • EASTERN CHURCH RESOURCE CENTER – Contains a collection of books, videos, periodicals, audiotapes and icons pertaining to the Eastern Church and ecumenism. Contact the library director for more information.

  • SMART CLASSROOM (LIB2) - Located on the second floor, this state-of-the-art electronic classroom seats 40 and may be booked for classroom use. Contact the registrar at x5287. Contact Mike Kiec in the IT Department (x5227) for training, setups and troubleshooting in the Smart Classroom and all other classrooms.

  • ART GALLERY – An attractive space that may be booked for exhibits. The library hosts four to five shows per year and all are invited. Contact the Library Director at x5266 for more information.

CURRICULUM LIBRARY – a resource library for education students, student teachers and instructors, the Curriculum Library houses textbooks, games, posters, curriculum guides, audio-visual items and teaching aids.

JUVENILE COLLECTION – maintained in support of the Education Department’s children’s literature curriculum, it contains over 4,000 volumes ranging from picture books to young adult literature in the areas of fiction, nonfiction and juvenile biography.

BOOK SALE – The library has an ongoing book sale on the first floor. Books are on all topics, old and new and are arranged by subject. Prices for most are .25 paperback, .50 hardcover, .50 audiotapes, videos, CDs, DVDs, software
