The college will mail a Notre Dame College Award Letter once you have been admitted to the college as one of the following :

  • Undergraduate seeking a bachelor’s degree
  • Graduate student seeking a master’s of education
  • Post-Graduate seeking their first teaching certificate or licensure in the undergraduate program

This award will let you know what types of aid you are eligible to receive based on your enrollment plans.

Your Award Notification Packet will tell you the following:

  • The amount of financial assistance funds awarded to you
  • The minimum number of hours you need to be enrolled to receive those funds
  • The Direct Cost of Education used to determine your award
  • Messages that pertain to your award
  • Instructions on how to reject all or part of your award

Accepting the financial aid awarded to you requires you to return a signed copy by the deadline indicated on the award letter. The Financial Aid Overview Brochure, sent with the Award Letter, gives further details concerning the funds listed on the award letter.

Federal Stafford Loan Program Borrowers

Potential Graduates

All students planning to graduate from Notre Dame College in May must complete Student Loan Exit Counseling. Exit Counseling is an on-line process that is done through the web site below. Before starting, be sure that you have the following information available:

Your Social Security Number
Your Drivers License Number
Name, Address, Telephone Number of Next of kin
Name, Address, Telephone Number of two references whom the lender could contact if they should lose contact with you
Name, Address, Telephone Number of your Expected Employer
Name of Guaranty Agency who guaranteed your student loans: (Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation)
Name of your Lender (look at the copy of your loan papers or disclosure statement sent to you by your lender)

Do You Need Information About Your Federal Student Loans?

The Federal Government now maintains a database with general information about your Federal Student Loan borrowing history. They have a convenient web site that you can access to view your loan history. This should be one place that you can find out who you need to contact concerning repayment of your federal student loans. Contacts, phone numbers, address and Web sites are available for your access. Notre Dame College does not maintain this information.

Federal Perkins Loan Borrowers

If you have borrowed through the Federal Perkins Loan Program at Notre Dame College, the information below should help you through your repayment process.

All Federal Perkins Loans at Notre Dame College are serviced by :

They have been hired by the college to work with you to handle the repayment process. Their website is located at: http://www.uaservice.com/

Their first contact with you will be shortly after you graduate or cease to attend Notre Dame College. UAS will tell you when your repayment begins and how much your payment will be. They can also assist you in processing deferments, forbearances, or other issues that may arise during your repayment process.

As with all loans it is important to keep in touch with the servicer. This includes informing them of name and address changes.

Provisions Governing Financial Aid at Notre Dame College

Use Of Financial Aid:

  • Accepting The Award: You must sign and return one copy to our office within two weeks of the date appearing on the award or your award will be cancelled.

  • The scholarship and grants appearing on this Financial Aid Award Notification will be transferred to the recipient’s Student Account in the Student Accounts Office no sooner than 10 days before the beginning of the term.

  • Loans will not be posted to your account until the disbursement is received from your lender. For new students this requires you to complete a Master Promissory Note and complete Entrance Loan Counseling.

  • Student Work Study funds are not posted to your account until you have earned the funds and submit your paycheck to the Student Accounts Office.

  • Financial aid is awarded based on certain credit hour combinations. Therefore, if you enroll for fewer hours than indicated on this notification you must notify the Financial Aid Office in writing. Your aid will be adjusted accordingly.

  • Before making any changes in your enrollment status or residency status, it is wise to check with the Financial Aid Office and Student Accounts Office to determine the ramification of a change.

  • This Award Notification is valid for only the terms indicated. If you fail to attend a term or withdraw during a term, the remaining award is null and void. You must contact the Financial Aid Office to receive a revised award notification.

  • You must re-apply for financial aid every year. Next year’s award amounts are based on the new year’s FAFSA application.

Revisions and Cancellations:

Notre Dame College reserves the right to review, revise or cancel a financial aid award at any time due to:

  • Changes in your financial, residential, or academic status
  • Failure to comply with the provisions, policies, procedures or laws pertaining to those programs
  • The availability of federal, state and college funds for each program
  • Changes in college policy
  • Receipt of outside scholarships
  • Non-compliance with the Standards of Academic Progress

The College is not obligated to satisfy the total financial need of every student.

Federal/College Work Study Program

Students who need help in locating a position on campus should contact Career Services Center.

Timeline for finding a position:

All students awarded either Federal Work Study or College Work Study funds are eligible for employment. You have until September 17 to locate a position on campus. Should you need help you must stop into the Career Services Center and request assistance before September 17.

Paper Work you must complete:

  • All students hired by Notre Dame College must complete the forms listed below.
  • You may not begin work until the (Career Services Center) have received your completed forms and approved you for employment. They will notify your supervisor in writing when you may begin working.
  • You are not considered an employee of the college until your paperwork has been approved. Only employees will be paid for time worked. All others will be considered volunteers.

    You must include a copy of your Social Security Card and Drivers License

Employment Guidelines

  • Students may work up to 17.5 hours per week. For example, if you work 10 hours per week at one college job, you can work no more than 7.5 hours per week at a second college job. During vacation weeks, you may work a full 7-hour day or 35-hour workweek regardless of the number of college jobs you hold.
  • It is your responsibility to stay under this limit for all college jobs you hold. Failure to do so may be grounds for termination. You have been award an amount of Federal/College Work Study Funds for Fall semester and an amount for Spring Semester. Check your award letter to determine your exact amount. (Unearned awards may not be carried from fall semester to spring semester.)
  • Student employment ceases when you have earned your Federal/College Work Study Eligibility for a term. You may not work during scheduled class times, even if the instructor has canceled your class meeting for a particular day.You may only earn in gross wages the amount of Federal /College Work Study funds awarded to you each term. Once you have earned that amount, you must cease working.

Time Sheets:

  • You must complete an Excel Time Sheet to record the time you start and the time you end each day. These time sheets are computerized, once completed they must be printed off, signed by the student and supervisor. Only your supervisor may submit them to the Payroll Office.
  • You will be responsible to record your start time and end time each day. Excel Time Sheets are available from your supervisor. Each position you have on campus will require a separate time sheet.

Pay Check:

  • Students, who have submitted timesheets for the previous month by the deadline to their supervisors, should have a paycheck ready by the first of the month.
  • Pay checks will be available in your mail box if you have no balance, other wise you must come to the Student Services Center on the first of each month. If you still owe the college money, you should turn your check over to Student Accounts to help pay off your balance.
