You Can Be a Champion!

“While most are dreaming of success, winners wake-up and work hard to achieve it.”  As an incoming freshman, I faced the same anticipation as most do. I was overwhelmed trying to figure out how I was going to make the most out of my Notre Dame experience. By following these five hints, you’ll come out a winner.

  1. Plan Ahead! At the start of each week, create a schedule that organizes when assignments are due. It’s nearly impossible to get through a chaotic college semester without planning ahead.
  2. Set your alarm! Being on your own may make it difficult waking up for class or prioritizing going to class over hanging out in the dorms, but it’s essential. The majority of professors rewards participation and attendance points, which are crucial for your final grade.
  3. GO NDC! Your success outside of the class can be just as important for a successful college career. Joining a sports team or going to support one is a simple step to meet new people and get involved!
  4. Utilize the Dwyer Learning Center! The learning center is where NDC students can receive free tutoring from fellow peers conveniently on campus. No appointment is necessary, just check the schedule to see what times specific tutors are available.
  5. Work Study Jobs! NDC offers a work study program which allows students to get a job on campus and get paid by the school. When your paycheck comes, you can decide to keep your money or to put it towards your tuition.

Notre Dame has taught me to use these special tools and hints to succeed. Just remember to organize, attend, work, utilize, and get involved! Becoming a winner can be easily achieved when knowing what needs to be accomplished.
