Falcons super season snapped at Region IX Tourney

MOUNT VERNON , Ohio – The Notre Dame Volleyball season came to an end today at the AMC/NAIA Region IX Tournament on Friday when the Falcons fell to Cedarville and Walsh both in straight games. Notre Dame College entered the tournament with a 21-12 overall record, and was top seed from the AMC North Division after winning the AMC North Division regular-season title.

In the first match of the day, Cedarville defeated NDC 30-21, 30-24, 30-27. Debbie Beatty (Sr/Massillon, OH) lead the Falcons with 19 digs. On the attack, Hailey Martin (Fr/Euclid, OH) finished the first match of the day with 11 kills.

Against Walsh, the Cavaliers toppled the Blue & Gold 30-20, 30-15, 30-19. Again Beatty lead the counterattack with 20 kills in her final game in Blue & Gold. Holli Reyna (Sr/Amarillo, TX) and Julia Szabo (Sr/Lorain, OH) tallied nine kills apiece.

"Although today didn't end like we would have liked it," said American Mideast Conference (AMC) North Division Coach of the Year, Mark Ridley,"we have a lot to be proud of this season and we look forward to building upon this next fall."

NDC finishes their season at a program best 21 wins and 14 losses.

 

Notes from the Nest....

Digging double digits: Holli Reyna completed her senior season with only two matches with only four matches where she did not finish with digs in the double digits. She finished her senior season with 610 digs (4.73/game).

Dig a little deeper: Finishing the year with 896 digs, Debbie Beatty closes out her collegiate career with 2662 digs. Beatty closed in on the top of the career digs list midway through the 2007 campaign on Oct. 10 at Edinboro (PA).
