NDC suffers first home loss of season
SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio –The Notre Dame Falcons dropped their second match in only three outings in interdivision play against Walsh on Thursday. NDC fell in five games against the Cavaliers (32-30, 25-30, 30-26, 24-30, 7-15). The Blue and Gold are now 15-11 (7-1, AMC-North) while Walsh improves to 22-5 (6-2, AMC-South).
In a game of big hits and bigger digs, Debbie Beatty (Sr/Massillon, OH) lead the defensive charge with 39 digs. Beatty's defense marks the third-highest number of digs in matches this season.
In the front court, three Falcons finished the night with kills in the double digits. Hailey Martin (Fr/Euclid, OH) finished the night with a season high 25 kills against the Cavaliers. Leslie Rodriguez (Sr/Pecos, TX) and Julia Szabo (Sr/Lorain, OH) posted 15 and ten kills, respectively.
Dana Sarver (Jr/Durand, IL) also had a strong night in front of the net with three block assists and two solo blocks.
The match between the Falcons and Cavaliers marked Senior Night for the NDC Volleyball program. Beatty, Holli Reyna, Patty Stefanski, Kristy Stefanski, Carmella LoCascio, Szabo and Rodriguez were all honored for their contributions in a pregame ceremony.
NDC travels to Daemen (NY) on Saturday for an American Mideast Conference (AMC) North Division match up. The match is slated to begin at 1:00pm.
