Blue & Gold take two at Houghton Invitational

HOUGHTON, New York – The Notre Dame Volleyball team picked up two more victories on Friday when they defeated Pikeville (KY) (30-24, 29-31, 30-24, 28-30, 15-8) and Faulkner (AL) (31-29, 30-25, 27-30, 28-30, 15-8) at the first day of the Houghton Invitational.

The Falcons topped Pikeville in five games after going up 2-1. The Bear were able to rally to tie the game at two apiece heading into the fifth and final match. In the deciding game, the Falcons prevailed with a 15-8 final score to secure the 3-2 win.

In their second match of the day, NDC faced the Faulkner Eagles in an even tougher match where the first four games were decided by no more than five points each. After dropping the third and fourth games to the Eagles, the two teams headed into another fifth game. Once more, the Falcons were able to rally and notch match victory with their 15-8 win.

With the Falcons two wins, they are now 4-4 on the season. On Saturday, they face tournament host, Houghton at 10:30am and then a rematch against Faulkner at 12:30pm.
