NDC tops Oberlin, 3-0, tie program record

OBERLIN, Ohio – Notre Dame defeated Oberlin, 3-0, Tuesday, winning three straight games by scores of 30-25, 30-22, and 30-21. The victory for the Falcons was their third straight and their 19th overall in the 2007 season.

Notre Dame (19-12, 10-2 AMC-N) was led by freshman hitter Hailey Martin (Euclid, OH), who posted 17 kills in the match. Senior libero Debbie Beatty (Massillon, OH) collected 19 digs to lead the NDC defense.

The non-conference win for Notre Dame tied a program record for most wins in a season, which Head Coach Mark Ridley's 2005 team posted in going 19-17 that season.

The Falcons remain atop the North Division standings in the American Mideast Conference (AMC) with a 10-2 mark. Two teams, Point Park (PA) and Malone, are on NDC's heels at 9-3 heading into the final weekend of the regular season.

The Falcons are slated to close out their regular season Saturday, Nov. 3, when they host Carlow (PA) and Houghton (NY) in a home tri-match at Murphy Gymnasium. Game one is scheduled to begin at 11:00am Saturday.

Notre Dame is assured one of the top three places in the AMC North standings by virtue of their 10-2 mark. Each of the top three advance to the AMC Championship Tournament, which is scheduled to be held Nov. 9-10.
