Falcons earn first 'W' of the season in tourney split

RENSSELAER, Ind. - Notre Dame rallied from a pair of losses Friday by notching their first win of the 2007 season in day-two of the Puma Invitational on Saturday. NDC earned the win by setting down Kentucky State in three games, 30-13, 30-19, 30-19.

The Falcons then finished out their two-day competition with a 3-0 loss to the tournament's undefeated host, St. Joseph's (IN). In the nightcap, the Pumas topped NDC, 30-16, 30-20, 30-18.

Notre Dame (1-3) is scheduled to play its next match Thursday, Aug. 30. The Falcons travel to Tiffin University to take on the Dragons at 7:00pm.

Beatty named to All-Tourney squad : Libero/outside hitter Debbie Beatty (Sr/Massillon, OH) was named to the All-Tournament Team Saturday for her performance over the Falcons' two-day season debut.

Tourney tune-up : The Puma Invitational at St. Joesph's College in Rensellaer was the Falcons' debut event for the 2007 season. NDC Volleyball is scheduled to compete in two more tournaments this season. The Falcons travel to Houghton, New York to play in the Houghton College Tournament Sep. 7-8 and then to Cleveland to participate in the Case Tournament at CWRU Sep. 14-15.
