Royal and gold race to bronze
Distance and field events get Falcons to top
Oberlin, OH - The Notre Dame College Women’s Indoor Track and Field squad fared well at the Oberlin College Open in Oberlin, OH. Both the men’s and women’s teams, despite not entering relays were able to run away with top three team finishes with the men finishing second and the women third.
In the 200m dash Jamrya Davis (Fr/Galloway, OH) sprinted to a second place finish with a time of 27.24 while classmate Margie Jones (Fr/Sheffield Lake, OH) was also able to garner some points for the Royal and Gold with an 8th place finish in 29.56 seconds.
In the distance portion of the meet, the Falcon Women clearly showed their power and dominance with five first or second place finishes. In the One-Mile run, Jenny Rohn (So/Macedonia, OH) and Angeleena Procacci (Fr/Dreseden, OH) took home the gold and bronze medals with times of 5:56.21 and 6:13.88, respectively.
The 800m was also strong for the Falcons with all three Royal and Gold competitors placing for points. Allie Rendlesham (So/Richmond Heights, OH) came in first with a time of 2:34.21 with teammate Rohn right on her heels, clocking in at 2:34.75.
To add to Rendlesham’s first place honors, she not only took home a second place finish in the 3000m run, but also smashed her own school record by sixteen seconds finishing in 11:12.97.
In the field events, Maggie Cooper (Fr/Euclid, OH) took home the third top finish of the night in the shot put throwing 10.92m, only tenths of a meter off from the NDC school record.
The Falcons will soar again on Friday, February 16 at the Greater Cleveland Championships held in Berea, OH hosted by Baldwin Wallace College. The meet is slated to begin at 4:15pm.
