Michael “Mac” McBride – Head Coach
7th Season (2007-2008)
Michael "Mac" McBride became the first head coach of the Notre Dame College men's tennis team when the program was developed for the 2001-02 academic year. He also began as the head men's soccer coach that same year. Since the first season, McBride has coached one player to two consecutive American Mideast Conference North Division honors and four players to NAIA All-America Scholar Athlete status in tennis. Both his 2004 and 2005 tennis teams were among the smartest in the nation. The 2004 team was one of nine and his 2005 team was one of eight honored with the ITA All-Academic Team Award.
As a soccer coach, his team has earned three AMC North Division Championships in five seasons and his players have earned six NAIA All-America honors, nine NAIA All-America Scholar Athlete honors and 28 all-conference honors. He's also had one of his players advance to the professional level, while several continue to play for the Premier Development League.
McBride was an award-winning scholarship soccer player at Walsh University from 1995-98. He earned his bachelor's degree in physical education and a master's degree in education. A Birmingham, England native and son of John and Anne McBride, he currently resides in Mayfield Heights while continuing to be a lifelong Birmingham City fan.
