Falcons fall short
Historical tie-breaker with Muskies ends in 5-4 loss
SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio - The Notre Dame was defeated by Muskingum, 5-4 in a match that included two tiebreakers, a first in NDC tennis history.
Despite the loss, NDC showed signs of progress for the growing program. Freshmen James Goodwin (Willoughby, Ohio) and Andy Sherman (Mentor, Ohio) earned their first-ever collegiate wins over their Muskingum counterparts. Goodwin teamed up with Alex Godes (Sr/St. Petersburg, Russia) for his second victory of the day in the first doubles competition.
“Two of our three newcomers now have wins under their belt and I’m delighted for them," said Head Coach Mac McBride. "This was an enthralling match for start to finish, and the result hung in the balance for what seemed like an eternity. It was solid college tennis.”
The Falcons return to the court on Monday, Feb. 25 when they play York (PA) in Hilton Head, S.C. for the first of two matches during their spring break training.
