Falcons go fourth
Program-record fourth win comes at Marietta

MARIETTA, Ohio - Notre Dame defeated Marietta College Monday by a final score of 8-1. The Falcon racquet men won five singles matches and swept the doubles competition over the Pioneers.

The win for Notre Dame (4-5) sets a new program record for wins in a single season. "We've made big strides the last couples years," said Head Coach Michael "Mac" McBride. "This is a talented group, and it's showing on the courts."

In singles competition, five Falcon players earned straight-set victories. Alex Godes (Sr/St. Petersburg, Russia) shut out Bruce Kitchens (So/Stafford, VA), 6-0/6-0, in the one-slot. James Goodwin (So/Willoughby, OH) followed him with a 6-2/6-0 win. Both players have now won four straight sets and two straight matches.

The win for NDC is their second straight. The Falcons are slated to play next on Thursday, when they host Roberts Wesleyan College (NY) at the Mayfield Racquet Center.

NOTES FROM THE NEST...

G-MEN: Alex Godes and James Goodwin have each won five of their last six matches. Godwin is now 6-3 on the season. Godes is 5-4.

60-60 CLUB: Godes' 6-0/6-0 shutout victory marked his second such win this season. That's a team high.
