SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – The newly-ranked Notre Dame Men's Soccer squad extended their unbeaten streak to five matches Saturday, with a 4-0 victory over the Daemen (NY) Wildcats. The win continues a stretch of inspired play for the Falcons, who were ranked No. 25 in the most recent (Oct. 10) National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) poll. With the shutout Saturday, Notre Dame's seventh, the Falcons have now compiled a 4-0-1 record since their last loss, Sep. 25 to Mt. Vernon Nazarene.

Notre Dame (10-2-2, 3-0 AMC-N) scored a pair of goals in each half and controlled the pace of play throughout the match in running their American Mideast Conference (AMC) North Division record to 3-0. Danny Bartulovic (Sr/Gates Mills, OH) scored twice in the first frame for the Falcons; the senior midfielder opened NDC's scoring against the Wildcats with a 14-yarder on a pass from Jared Miller (Sr/Avon Lake, OH) at the 17:41-mark. The goal was Bartulovic's fifth of the season, and it marked the fourth consecutive game the Gates Mills product has found the back of the net. He scored his sixth goal at 32:25 to give NDC a 2-0 lead.

David McCaig (Sr/Stewarton, Scotland) and Josh Lipka (Fr/Lexington, OH) added second-half tallies for the Falcons, who avenged a 2006 post-season loss (AMC Qualifying Round) to Daemen (4-7-1, 0-1-1 AMC-N).

For the match, the Falcons rifled 36 shots in on two Wildcat goalkeepers (Jeff Spencer and Gary Arruda). The Falcons outshot the Wildcats, 36-6, and put 20 shots on goal, to Daemen's two. Goalkeeper Craig Pickering (So/Newcastle, England) stopped two shots for win. The netminder from Newcastle now owns a 10-2-2 record on the season, with six shutouts.

Notre Dame's next match is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 16, when the Falcons visit Point Park-PA (3-10, 0-3).

Notes from the Nest...
