Jefferson's Bayer earns NAIA All-American Scholar-Athlete Honors
South Euclid, OH - December 2002 - Jefferson High School graduate Erin Bayer has finished off an outstanding collegiate volleyball career at Notre Dame College by being named as an NAIA All-American Scholar-Athlete.
Bayer carries a 3.89 overall G.P.A. in Education with a concentration in Social Studies and Science. In addition to her national award, Bayer was also selected as an American Mideast Conference (AMC) Scholar-Athlete and earned AMC Honorable Mention Honors as a setter.
In just two-seasons at Notre Dame, Bayer dished out 2,452 assists breaking the previous school mark of 1,872 held by Rachelle Pragg. Bayer also broke the single season assist record with 1,246 assists in 2001. Along with her setting records, Bayer also makes the top ten in several other career categories including: 1st in service percentage with a 97.9% accuracy, 4th in total blocks with 223, 5th in service aces with 101, and 6th in total digs.
Over the last two-years, Bayer has earned All-Tournament honors four times and helped the 2001 team set a new school record for wins in a season.
Notre Dame Head Coach Shelly Miller said "that we will really miss Erin next year - her leadership, athletic ability, and work ethic really helped get the Notre Dame program to a new level of competitiveness. I would love to see what she could do for our team if she had another year or two to play."
Bayer is the daughter of Jeff and Karen Bayer of Monroe, MI.
