Sommerville Set on Notre Dame
South Euclid, OH – August 13, 2004 - The Notre Dame College baseball program acquired another pitcher for its staff when Marlon Sommerville signed an NAIA Letter of Intent Thursday afternoon. The graduate of East High School in Akron, Ohio recorded 30 strikeouts in 24 innings of work his senior season. He was also a member of the basketball and cross country teams. Sommerville chose Notre Dame for three specific reasons, “For a great education, the team's great coach and the overall great opportunity,” said Sommerville. He plans to major in sports management as Notre Dame begins its inaugural season of baseball with the 2004-05 academic year. The Falcons will compete within the North Division of the American Mideast Conference, which is the largest NAIA conference in the nation.
