Scotland Native to Play Soccer and Golf for Falcons
South Euclid, OH – July 20, 2004 - David McCaig will become the first dual sport student-athlete in Notre Dame College history to participate in the sports of men's soccer and golf when the 2004-05 academic year begins.
A graduate of Stewarton Academy in East Ayrshire, Scotland, McCaig was an active participant in both sports, among such others as cross country, badminton and volleyball.
A midfielder for soccer, he played in numerous leagues since the age of seven, including the Scottish Premier League, Scottish Football League and the Glasgow Central League.
“I received excellent encouragement from both the soccer and golf coaches,” said McCaig of his decision to attend Notre Dame, “The ability to participate in both sports together with good academic diversity helped my decision.”
McCaig will major in information systems.
