Men's Soccer Acquires Division-I Transfer
South Euclid, OH – July 28, 2005 - Notre Dame College men's soccer head coach Michael McBride was thrilled with today's signing of former Lutheran West High School standout and Division I transfer Jared Miller.
"Anytime a school of our size signs a Division I transfer, it's going to be good news. However, in this instance, it's potentially program changing news," said McBride. "In my opinion, Jared is one of the very best players to come out of northern Ohio in the last three years. He's 6'2", quick, left-footed and can play almost anywhere. This lad has the pedigree and desire to push us to the next level."
In high school, Miller spent three years at the varsity level for the Longhorns where he recorded 83 goals and 59 assists. He was First-Team All-Ohio, First-Team All-Cuyahoga County, First-Team Mac-8 and the Mac-8 Most Valuable Player as a forward. Under his direction, Lutheran West went 17-3-1 his senior season, helping him land an offer to the University of Nevada Las Vegas.
After one season with the Rebels, Miller transferred to the University of Akron, where he was forced to sit out for one season because of making the switch to another NCAA Division I institution.
Now, with three years of eligibility remaining, Miller is ready to make his impact on the NAIA as a Notre Dame Falcon.
"I chose Notre Dame because of its location and the small school atmosphere," said Miller. "I spent my high school years at a small school and really enjoyed it."
Miller plans to major in biology and education.
