Lacrosse Adds Two More Players

South Euclid, OH – July 27, 2005 - New commitments to the Notre Dame College women's lacrosse program are Jenna Schuerman (Academy of Holy Angels, Minnesota) and Katie Dempsey (Stow, Ohio). Both players should make an immediate impact on the field for the young Falcon squad which will enter only its second season with the 2005-06 academic year.

Schuerman comes to Notre Dame by way of Creighton University where she played club lacrosse. Prior to Creighton, Schuerman was a standout in her state of Minnesota, where she had the opportunity to play under NDC head coach Candace Taglianetti’s former assistant coach at The Ohio State University. Schuerman was selected to represent the Minnesota National Team at the National Tournament in 2004.

“Jenna already arrives at Notre Dame with a good foundation of coaching and experience," said Taglianetti. "She is a very versatile player with good stick work, great awareness and an excellent transition.”

Dempsey enters Notre Dame College via Stow High School. She is the second player to sign from Stow. Like Schuerman, she too had the opportunity to play under another of Taglianetti's OSU connections - this time in Mara Jones (Simpson), Taglianetti’s former teammate on the OSU lacrosse team.

“Although Katie is a newer player to lacrosse, she has all the right tools to achieve tremendous success in this sport," said Taglianetti. "She is lightning quick, aggressive and a smart defender with natural instincts. Both Katie and Jenna will really help in the transition game and help us to play a better level of lacrosse.”
