Notre Dame College Hires Fastpitch Head Coach

South Euclid, OH - October 28, 2004 – Notre Dame College announced the hiring of Terry Leighty as the fastpitch head coach for the Falcons this season.

Leighty joins Notre Dame after a successful six-year stint as the head varsity fastpitch coach at Holy Name High School. He was the only coach to ever coach fastpitch since the program switched over from slowpitch in 1999. During his time at Holy Name, the program amassed a record of 113-32, while winning three conference and three district titles. The program also participated in three regional finals.

A former Cleveland Plain Dealer Coach of the Year (2001), Leighty was also named as the North Coast League Coach of the Year three times (2001, 2002, 2004).

This year, Leighty is up for consideration for induction into the Greater Cleveland Slo Pitch Softball Hall of Fame. A five-time All-World second baseman and outfielder, he has also been a part of eight national championship teams.

Leighty attended Cleveland State University where he majored in marketing and was a one-year member of the Viking basketball team. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Dyke College and was also a member of the basketball team.

Currently, he is employed by TransWestern Publishing Company selling yellow page advertising.
