Blazetic Named AMC Player of the Week

South Euclid, OH – May 14, 2004 - For only the second time in Notre Dame College women's basketball history, a Falcon has been named American Mideast Conference Player of the Week. Senior post player Amanda Blazetic (Eastlake North High School) earned the honor for the week of November 14-20.

The award comes as a result of her performance during two games in the Greater Cleveland Classic. The starting team co-captain scored 19 points in an 84-49 win against NCAA-III Oberlin College. She followed with her first double double of the season with 29 points and 10 rebounds in a 71-62 win in the championship game against NCAA-III Case Western Reserve University.

For the tournament, she averaged 24 points and 12 rebounds. She was 21-of-26 from the field for 81 percent and shot 60 percent from the charity stripe. She also contributed four steals and two blocks in the two games.

The AMC accolade selection is chosen out of a possible 20 nominations, one from each member school. Notre Dame's only other women's basketball nod was in February of 2003 when Blazetic earned the honor as a sophomore.
