Lonneman signs with NDC
SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio –The Notre Dame College Women’s Soccer team announced the signing of Monica Lonneman to a National Associate of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Letter of Intent to play soccer for the Falcons beginning in the 2008 season.

Lonneman will come to College Road from Cold Springs, Kentucky, where she earned three varsity letters at Newport Central Catholic. She was a three-year starter for the Thoroughbreds, which won three Kentucky State titles in her tenure.

The defender also has a notable career on the club circuit competing for NK United Dynamite Premier. She was a three-year captain for NK and part of the 2006 and 2007 State Cup Finalist teams. Lonneman also played for the Olympic Development Program (ODP).

As a student with a 3.98 GPA, Lonneman also is a member of the National Honor Society, president of the Pep Club and an All-State Academic Team honoree.

“Monica has played and won at a very high level before making her way to us,” Head Coach Mike Shiels said,  “Her experience at the club and high school levels and on the ODP State Team (Ky.) will make the transition to college soccer a smooth one.”

The Falcons finished the 2007 season with a program-best 13-4-2 overall record and advanced to the semi-finals of the NAIA Regional Tournament (Great Lakes East) for the first time in program history. 

Notre Dame College is a co-educational liberal arts institution in South Euclid, Ohio. The Notre Dame Athletics Department sponsors the Falcons' participation in 17 men's and women's sports. The College is affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the American Mideast Conference (AMC), which is the largest NAIA conference in the country.
