Falcons stick it out in the classroom
SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has announced that 11 institutions in Division II have earned Academic Squad honors, including three that have been named Merit Squads. The Notre Dame Women’s Lacrosse team was among the 11, which earned a collective GPA of 3.0 or higher. Included in the list of teams were both the NCAA Division II finalists, C.W. Post (NY) and West Chester (PA).
In addition to team honors, two Falcons earned recognition for their outstanding work off the field. To receive honors, the student-athlete must have achieved junior year status and a 3.2 minimum GPA. 2008 graduate, Tessa Bluntzer (Houston, TX) and Johanna Bauswein (Sr/Bainbridge, OH) were named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll. Bluntzer, biology major, earned a 3.60 GPA while Bauswein, has a 3.5 as a criminal justice major.
This is Bluntzer’s second consecutive time earning academic recognition from the IWLCA.
The NDC Lacrosse team closed out their fourth season with a 12-4 record, including a nine-game win streak mid-season. The Falcons ended 2008 with the championship title at the Falcon Invitational with a 12-6 victory over NAIA member, Lindenwood (MO).
