SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio –The Notre Dame College Women’s Lacrosse team announced the signing of Megan Gillespie to a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics to continue her athletic and academic career at NDC beginning in the 2008-09 school year.
Gillespie will come to Notre Dame from McDowell High School where she earned three letters in lacrosse and soccer. As a junior for the Trojans, she was a part of the District Ten runner-up team. In her sophomore season, the Erie, Penn. Native was named team MVP and won the District Ten championship title.
“We are thrilled to have Megan join our program,” said Head Coach Candace Taglianetti, “she comes from an area that is seeing tremendous growth in lacrosse and for her to make the step to the college game is huge progress for the region.”
The Notre Dame Lacrosse team kicks off their fourth season on February 24 when they play NCAA-II Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla. Last year, the Falcons finished 12-4 overall and will look to build upon a record setting third season.
Notre Dame College is a co-educational liberal arts institution in South Euclid, Ohio. The Notre Dame Athletics Department sponsors the Falcons' participation in 17 men's and women's sports. The College is affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the American Mideast Conference (AMC), which is the largest NAIA conference in the country.
