Zapotechne chooses NDC
SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio –The Notre Dame College Men’s Soccer program announced the signing of Jon Zapotechne to a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Letter of Intent to continue his soccer career with the Falcons.

Zapotechne comes to College Road from Oberlin High School in nearby Lorain county. The four-year letter winner for the Phoenix graduates in 2008 with a highly decorated high school soccer resume.  In four seasons, he collected 29 goals and dished out 25 assists for a total of 83 career points.

As a senior, the midfield was named Player of the Year for Lorain country as well as for the entire Greater Cleveland area. Zapotechne was also a First Team All-Ohio selection and earned recognition as one of the top players in the Midwest.

In his first three season at Oberlin, he was named to the Second Team All-Greater Cleveland and earned All-Lorain country honors each year.

“We are delighted to have Jon join the squad this fall,” said Head Coach Michael "Mac" McBride, “he possesses great technique and, in our opinion, was one of the very best players in the state this year.”

The Falcon Men’s Soccer team finished the 2007 season with an overall record of 13-4-2 and advanced to the NAIA Regional Semi-finals. NDC earned their fifth American Mideast Conference North Division title since 2001.

Notre Dame College is a co-educational liberal arts institution in South Euclid, Ohio. The Notre Dame Athletics Department sponsors the Falcons' participation in 17 men's and women's sports. The College is affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the American Mideast Conference (AMC), which is the largest NAIA conference in the country.
