The Kenston High School graduate will be coming to College Road with a strong athletic and academic background. Schantz was a four-year varsity starter and served as team captain for the Bombers. In 2005 she earned Defensive Player of the Year honors as well as MVP recognition in her senior season. The 5’10 goalkeeper also was named to the All-Chagrin Valley Conference Second Team, All-Lake/Geauga Country Honorable Mention, All-District Honorable Mention and All-Sun Newspapers Southeast Team.
Academically, Schantz was an All-Chagrin Valley Conference Academic honoree in 2007 and also graduated from Kenston with Academic Honors.
At the club level, Schantz competed with the Cleveland Cobra Soccer Club and participated in Olympic Development play for three years.
“Physically Sandy is ready for the next level and her experience and mental toughness should provide for a smooth transition to the collegiate game,” Head Coach Mike Shiels said.
The Notre Dame Women’s Soccer team finished with an 11-8 overall record and a 5-2 record in the American Mideast Conference-North Division in 2006.
