Eastlake native joins Women’s Soccer staff
SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – The Notre Dame College Athletic Department announced the hiring of Julie Brickman as an assistant coach for the Women’s Soccer team.
Brickman comes back to Northeast Ohio after two years in the Washington, D.C. area where she played for the Northern Virginia Majestics, a semi-professional women’s soccer team.
Brickman is a 2005 graduate of NCAA Division II Mercyhurst College where she was a four-year letter winner as a defender and midfielder. As a freshman and a senior, she was named to the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference 2nd Team. She was a member of a Laker squad that garnered national rankings in 2001 and 2002.
“We are very excited to have Julie as a part of our coaching staff. She has wealth of playing experience at a very high level and I believe that she will transition into coaching very well,” said fifth-year Head Coach Mike Shiels.
The Falcons will open their 12th season of competition on Sep. 1, when they travel to Whiting, Indiana to compete in the Crimson Wave Invitational hosted by Calumet College of St. Joseph. The Falcons will meet the Iowa Wesleyan Tigers in the first day of the four-team tournament’s competition.
Notre Dame College is a co-educational liberal arts institution in South Euclid, Ohio. The Notre Dame Athletics Department sponsors the Falcons' participation in 17 men's and women's sports. The College is affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the American Mideast Conference (AMC), which is the largest NAIA conference in the country.
