Flett named to Australian Squad
SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – Women’s Lacrosse Australia announced the 2009 Australian National Lacrosse Squad selection pool on Sunday. Kylie Flett (Sr/Adelaide, Australia) made the final selection pool of 36 athletes eligible to be rostered for the final squad representing Australia. The team will be competing in the 2009 World Cup, held in Prague, Czech Republic.

Flett is in her senior season at NDC and has started in between the pipes for the Falcons all three years since the program’s 2005 inception. She holds the program records for saves in a season (215), career saves (580) and saves in a game (26).

The Australian Squad will participate in a number of camps and tournaments in 2008 to gear up for the 2009 World Cup. Each squad member has the opportunity to compete with their home State at the Australian Nationals which is scheduled for July 2008. Final team selections are slated for January 2009.

In the last World Cup Tournament (2005), Australia took home the Gold medal after defeating the United States 14-7 in the Championship match to top off  a 7-0 tournament record. Australia tallied 141 goals throughout the tournament while allowing only 32 from the opponent. The gold medal marks only their second in World Cup lacrosse history and the first championship victory since 1986, which was also against the US.

Notre Dame College is a co-educational liberal arts institution in South Euclid, Ohio. The Notre Dame Athletics Department sponsors the Falcons' participation in 17 men's and women's sports. The College is affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the American Mideast Conference (AMC), which is the largest NAIA conference in the country.
