April Flowers brings out the Falcons

CHESTERLAND, Ohio - Notre Dame opened their Spring season Saturday by competing in the 15th Annual Pat Flowers Invitational. NDC finished ninth in the 27-hole event, which was hosted by John Carroll University and played at Fowlers Mill Golf Course in Chesterland.
Contestants played 18 on the Lake-River Course and added the Maple nine. Even par on the 27-hole layout was 107. The Blue & Gold shot a 479 (plus-51) as a team to place ninth in a field of 11.
The host John Carroll Blue Streaks won the invitational with a four-man score of 436 (plus-8).
Sophomore Tony Pinzone (Parma, OH) led the way for NDC with a Top-20 finish. Pinzone carded a 4-over 76 on the Lake-River Course and fired a 1-over 36 on the Maple. His total of 112 placed 14th in a field of 66.
David McCaig (Sr/Stewarton, Scotland) played as an individual and finished 33rd with a score of 117 (79-38). Rob Kline (So/Macedonia, OH), Casey McNeil (Sr/Ocala, FL), and Andy Minno (Fr/Akron, OH) rounded out the scoring for NDC.
The Pat Flowers Invitational marked the beginning of NDC's spring slate. The Falcons had been rained out the previous week, at the March 29-30 Kenyon Cup Invitational. The Falcons' spring season will continue with the Thiel College Invitational in Greenville, Penn. on Monday, Apr. 7.
Notre Dame went 9-14 in the Fall. They are now 11-22 in the combo Fall-Spring season.
