Falcons place one in Edinboro Open
EDINBORO, Penn. – Notre Dame continued its season Saturday, with a trip to Penn. for the Edinboro Open. NDC had three athletes win multiple bouts in the tournament hosted by Edinboro University. Freshman Tyler Savage (Lima, OH) paced the Falcons with a pair of wins and a sixth-place finish at 125.
Junior Jason Spencer (Mayfield, OH) won two bouts at 157 and sophomore Adam Koballa (So/Twinsburg, OH) earned a pair of victories at 141.
The open tournament featured teams and athletes from across several levels of collegiate wrestling, including National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I.
Savage, a freshman grappler from Carlisle High School in Lima, defeated Ryan Bosso (Pitt) in his first bout of the day, 4-2. He then picked up a 5-3 decision over Jay Anderson (North Carolina) before bowing out to Billy Chamberlain (Old Dominion), 11-2. Savage injury defaulted in the fifth-place bout.
Notre Dame will compete in one more event before the Feb. NAIA Qualifier tournament - NDC will host Rio Grande Sunday, Feb. 10.
