Why I love NDC:
Everyone on campus is super nice! Whether it is a staff member or a student, you can be assured you will get a warm greeting and a door held for you when entering a building. The campus is easy to get around and the heated sidewalks in the quad are a big plus during the winter months.
There is a lot to do on campus and we are in such close proximity to downtown Cleveland, students can always find an event to attend.

I grew up in Willoughby, Ohio where I attended Willoughby South High School as part of the class of 2002. From there, I studied at Lakeland Community College where I was an Academic All-American and a nationally ranked golfer. I then transferred here to Notre Dame College where I majored in Marketing with an English minor. I first began working at NDC as a student assistant coach for the women’s and men’s golf teams. I have traveled around the country and the world and have still never experienced another place like NDC. The campus is like an ecosystem in which every person has a purpose which is equally important.

Hi, my name is Katie Hartman, and I'm an Admissions Counselor at Notre Dame College. I grew up in North Royalton, Ohio and attended North Royalton High School as part of the class of 2009. From there, I studied at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio where I attained my undergraduate in Psychology. My college experience was so great that my goal became to help other students enjoy the same experience I had. After finishing at OSU, I took a year off to work in nonprofit work, but I soon found myself back on a college campus. This time I was at Ohio University pursuing my masters in Higher Education & Student Affairs, which I successfully finished this year. What my six years in higher education taught me is that everyone has a unique path that has led them to that point in their lives. Everyone is different and it is those differences that make life so beautiful. It’s very important to me to take the time to listen to my students’ stories and to build a relationship with not only you, but all future falcons and help them make a very important choice that will lead to a successful future.

Interests: taking Zumba classes, cooking, watching cooking shows on Food Network or the Cooking Channel.

Fun Fact #1: I was named Volunteer of the Year at Ohio State by the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life (I have a fancy award to prove it!)

Fun Fact #2: I held a leadership role in every organization I was involved in during undergrad and grad school.

Fun Fact #3: I’m a certified Starbucks barista!

Why I love NDC:
I love NDC because of the community. I’m not an alumna of Notre Dame, but I don’t feel like I’m treated any differently because of that. I attended two large state universities for my higher education, so I know what it’s like to feel like a number or feel invisible in a crowd, which is why working at a close-knit college like NDC was important to me. I’ve felt very included and welcomed from the moment I joined NDC in April, and I even remember feeling the joy and warmth of the faculty, staff, and students from the moment I stepped foot on campus for my interview. It’s contagious, really! I look forward to coming into work every day because I genuinely enjoy the people I am surrounded with here. They aren’t simply colleagues or coworkers, they are friends and family. And the incredible students I get to work with on a daily basis are really the icing on the cake! Not many people can speak so fondly of their workplace, but I have the privilege of working at a pretty spectacular place, and I’m very blessed in that regard.

Hailing from Cleveland Heights, Ohio I fell in love with Notre Dame College in 2001. Being the eldest of 4 girls I am usually the designated trailblazer and being a first time college student was no different for me. Despite looking at other schools in the area and out of state I found that my visit to NDC was the one that stuck with me the longest. I enjoyed my experience and my interaction so much I decided to attend in the fall of 2001. Majoring in Psychology with minor studies in literature I spent much of my time involved on campus in the Black Scholars program, working with resident/student life singing in the choir and working as an ambassador all the way up until graduation in 2005. After graduation, having spent time in the field of education and behavior health I recently chose to come back to NDC as an Admissions counselor. With my current territory being the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and charter schools along with the North Western Counties of Ohio in addition to 47 of the 50 states I am committed to helping my community and the students I serve. I’m in the office daily so feel free to contact or visit me.

Interests: Writing, singing, teaching Sunday School and Bible classes to children, painting.

Fun Fact #1: I am a Bible Scholar.

Fun Fact #2: I love whales, orcas specifically, as well as dolphins.

Fun Fact #3: I was one of the first Student Ambassadors for Notre Dame College.

Why I love NDC:
I love NDC because I love how much we care about students. If I had a son or daughter, I would feel confident that they would be taken care of the way that I would as a parent. They would be cared for and treated in the best way.
