Teacher Education Evening Licensure (TEEL) Program

TEEL® is an affordable, flexible evening program for busy adults who hold a bachelor's or advanced degree and who are interested in being credentialed to teach in the State of Ohio. The program offers licensure in the following areas:

 

Early Childhood (Grades PK-3)

Middle Childhood (Grades 4-9)

Adolescent to Young Adult (Grades 7-12)

Teaching Content Fields:

  • Integrated Language Arts
  • Integrated Mathematics
  • Integrated Social Studies
  • Life Science
  • Life Science/Chemistry

Multi-Age: Visual Arts, Spanish, Mild/Moderate Intervention Specialist (MMIS) (Grades PK-12)

The Notre Dame Advantage

Admission Requirements

  • A minimum of 2.75 overall grade point average in college course work to date. Applicants with a GPA lower than 2.75 are admitted under a provisional status.
  • Admission to Notre Dame College.

Admission, Registration, and Advising

  • To schedule an interview or apply to the college, contact the Office of Adult and Graduate Admissions. The office is located on the 1st floor of the Administrative Building. You may reach them at 877-NDC-OHIO extension 5173 or by email at gradadmissions@ndc.edu.
  • To schedule an appointment for registration and/or advising, please contact the Adult Admissions Office. The Adult Admissions Office is located on the 1st floor of the Administrative Building. Gail Banes, Administrative Assistant, will schedule appointments with an advisor. You may reach her at 877-NDC-OHIO extension 5173 or by email at ghbanes@ndc.edu.

Course Work Required

  • Eleven professional education courses are required for the Early Education License (PK-3), ten professional education courses are required for the Middle School License (4-9) and six professional education courses are required for Adolescent Young Adult Licensure. All require a supervised student teaching experience.

Cost of Program

Financial Aid

To qualify for financial aid, you need to be officially admitted to Notre Dame College. Students seeking initial teacher licensure and enrolled for at least six credit hours a term maybe eligible to borrow through the Federal Stafford Loan Program. The first step is to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). These applications are available through the Student Services Office or you can apply over the Internet at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Students registered for less than six hours per term can apply for alternative loans. Information are available through the Financial Aid Office and require a credit worthy borrower.

Post-baccalaureate teacher licensure scholarships of $2,500 are also available through The Jennings Foundation. Applications is available over the Internet at http://www.cspohio.org.

Placement

Notre Dame College has a placement rate of over 90% for students who successfully complete the pre-service teacher education program. The Career Services Center is available to assist in job searches. Patricia Matlin is the Coordinator of Student Teaching.
