Notre Dame College Hosts Annual Swim for Diabetes

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio—1 March 2006—Notre Dame College (NDC) is one of many local sites for the 21st annual Swim for Diabetes. On Saturday, March 25 and Sunday, March 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., swimmers will slip into the Mellen Pool at NDC’s Keller Athletic Center to raise funds for this disease that strikes Clevelanders at a rate of one in 14.

WJW Fox-8 News’ Wayne Dawson will be on hand Saturday, March 25, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon to sign t-shirts.

Swimmers at the NDC pool will receive treats and chances to win raffle prizes. Non-swimmers may join in with water aerobics or walking in the water. Last year 133 participants raised $10,000 at NDC’s pool alone.

All funds benefit the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland by helping provide free diabetes risk assessments and community programs, funding local diabetes research and supporting Camp Ho Mita Koda for children with diabetes.

The public is invited to help this worthy cause. Swimmers may pick up entry forms at Keller Center. Participants who pre-register by March 10th will receive a gift. In addition, prizes are available to all swimmers who collect pledges of $50.00 and more, including a ticket to the Cleveland Indians game on April 29 for collected pledges of $100.
