Lenten Speaker at
Notre Dame College
Focuses on South Africa
SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio - 28 February 2005 - Notre Dame College hosts a presentation by Rebecca Della Vecchia titled “South Africa after Apartheid: Hope and Challenges, ” Friday, March 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the Administration Building’s Little Theater. The talk is one of many sponsored by the Cleveland Diocese’s Focus on Africa Week.
Della Vecchia is a Fair Housing Specialist for Baltimore Neighborhoods, Inc. She earned both her BS in Secondary Education and BA in History with a minor in African Studies at Boston University. She studied at the University of Natal in South Africa for a semester where she immersed herself in the politics, history and literature of South Africa. She served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Dennilton, South Africa, where she trained teachers in the new outcomes-based education curriculum and implemented HIV/AIDS education programs for at-risk youth.
